Closing The Gap
1). What do you think caused the achievement gap.
I think that the support of the parents aren't there as much as before.
2)What can students do to close the gap?
The students can talk to their parents for their advice and to help them with their homework.
They can also talk to their teachers for their help with their classwork. And they have to get away from the bad influence.
3)What can parents do to close the gap?
They can talk to their children and tell them that they only want the best for them.
Parents can also help the school out with community service. And last they can make sure their kids are doing good in schoo
4) What can teachers/ parents do?
They can talk to their children. And they can make the children work harder. And the schools can set up extra courses.

Tom Hayden
1). What did you think about Mr. Hayden?
I think he was a very bright man and he makes a good point.
2). Tom Hayden does not think of himself as a civil rights leader. Do you see him as one? Why or why not?
I do because he made a difference by registering black people to vote. And that was illegal at that time. He went to jail for it. But he went to jail for a good cause.
3).Tom Hayden feels that leaders are not as important as the hundreds of thousands of people behind them. What does he mean by that?
He means that those people are the ones that have the voice. With that voice you can change a lot of things in the goverment. But one person, like a leader has less chances to change something by himself or herself.

Free Write
Yesterday we had our first soccer game. We tried our best all though I couldn't play. We played against one of the best schools in the state and we ended up losing. Now we know what we are playing against. And we need to practice harder. We need to have our best players on the field. And in order to do that, we need to get our grades up. And if we do that we have a chance of winning.
